I am an Assistant Professor of Language and Literacy in the department of Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, Literacy, and Special Education at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. My research interests focus on sociocultural and constructivist approaches to both conventional and new literacies practices with particular attention on digital, multimodal, and multi-authored texts.

Before arriving at UNCW, I was an elementary classroom teacher for 8 years, director of a long running after-school video production program for elementary aged children, and an Assistant Professor of Elementary Education at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

I am also a firm believer that life is better on a bicycle.
